Development of socio-economic phenomena in the border areas of Lower Silesia - new semi-periphery

Summary/Abstract: In present socio-economic space there is a growing phenomenon of polarization (on the one hand the increase in growth poles, on the other the appearance of the periphery). Periphery increase has negative influence and results in the marginalization of large areas and their population. This phenomenon can be noticed in the Polish space. It is connected with both different levels of development among regions but also with the growth of these phenomena inside the regions. Lower Silesia can be an example, where some areas of Polish- -Czech borderland display the features of periphery. That is why without taking activities connected with the cross-border cooperation, the activation of the region is not possible.
