Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the problem of selecting target countries for asset allocation of sovereign wealth funds. The paper analyzes the attractiveness of Polish economy as a place of investment from selected sovereign wealth funds compared to other countries from the region. Based on similarity ratios between the home and the recipient country of SWF investment, the paper finds that Poland is not a priority place of investment for funds from Kazakhstan, Norway and China. The empirical findings also suggest that Polish economy seems to be more attractive for Chinese sovereign wealth funds than Romania, Czech and Hungary, which is consistent with previous research on the issue. The article points out that there are other than hedging industry risk motives of investment. In conclusions, the author recommends to include a broader range of factors into the further analyses.
