Summary/Abstract: The article examines the level of technical efficiency of beef production in 25 countries of Europe, America, Asia, Australia and Africa. We compared different technologies of production in the two groups of households: livestock farms for further breeding and livestock farms for slaughter. Technical efficiency was calculated by using the methods of frontier estimation. As determinants of the effectiveness model variables are assumed, the combination of which reflect the specificities of the technology. In both analyzed groups, it was found that maintenance costs of machinery and equipment and veterinary costs had the greatest influence. In addition, in a group of farms producing animals for slaughter labor costs and the amount of sales were also important. In both cases, there were significant differences between the parametric and nonparametric models.
