Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the final years of the communism in Romania. It draws on the premises of the Ceausescu’s coming into power, his economical, social, and cultural policies as well as the main events during the period of his dictatorial ruling of Romania. The analysis concludes on the communist regime as mainly being a dictatorship exerted by one minority, by one enclosed elite, a military occupation regime that had been imposed by Soviet Union people during the year ‘40s, which reproduced itself in the ‘60s for one more generation – that all happening on the background of the Cold War and polarization in blocks of countries. As soon as these very conditions have disappeared the communist regime fell down.
