Summary/Abstract: The present study, based on the research carried out with the Adequate Information Management in Europe (AIM) Project, provides an important perspective on the factors influencing the type of news media coverage the European Union receives. The news being produced in terms of quality, depth and variety is dependent on a wide variety of factors, evident in the interview materials, as following: Media Organisations’ Commitment and Interest in European Union Affairs, Experience and Resources of Press Corps, Relationships with Home Newsrooms and Perceptions of Audience Needs, Relationships with the Sources, The Sophisticated Information Planning and News Management of the European Commission. The analysis of the nine interviews with the Romanian correspondents in Brussels draws some initial conclusions on the communication environment in Brussels, highlights certain trends in reporting, and assesses the development of a „European journalism”.
