Summary/Abstract: The present paper presents some of the working methods used in Mascarade, (2002) a documentary about games and winter rituals. The production of the movie draws on rich anthropological piles of information, gathered both from dedicated references and from the field work done especially through interviews and inquiry. The article brings forward the types of masks used in the rituals (Mascarade) taking place in the northern part of Romania (Moldavia) and also some of the methods used to fictionalize the information. The portrait, subjective narration, the dialogue between dancer and spectator, the biographical approach are only few of the techniques employed in the documentary.
