Summary/Abstract: Bearing in mind that marriage and family are among the most important values of mankind, the Church is eager to acquaint people with its teaching and provides help for those who realize the significance of family and marriage and try to be faithful to them. The Church also tries to assist those who are anxious and worried about the truth, and those who encounter injustice in attempting to fulfill their vision of family. To support those seeking truth and assist the latter, the Church is willing to serve every single person who is concerned about the future of family and marriage. Despite of possible obstacles, the Church firmly stands in defending its principles, the principle of indissolubility and especially the principle of absolute indissolubility of sacramental bond of marriage which a Christian couple commit themselves to. However, the fundamental principles of unity and indissolubility of marriage as well as the issues of sacramental nature of marriage are not always fully realized and respected. Tackling the fundamental principles of sacramental nature of marriage in the light of Canon 1056 is rather complicated. Those responsible for the pastoral work in Church should be well aware of the abundant treasures of divine grace that proceeds from the sacramental nature of Christian marriage and its influence on marriage-based ties in a family. The Lord wanted the primeval commandment of marriage to be a sign of the permanent bond between Jesus Christ and the Church as a sacrament of the New Covenant. It is absolutely essential to realize the fact that this sacramental character is not merely a thing which can be additionally attributed to the nature of marriage. By contrast, marriage itself, originally intended by the Creator as indissoluble, was elevated to the honor of a sacrament by the act of Jesus’ redemption. So it preserves its natural character. Inability to realize the particularity of this sacrament in comparison to other sacraments fails to conceive the right meaning of sacramental marriage. In preparing young couples for marriage, this concept becomes very important. Efforts to prepare future couples for celebrating the Eucharist will have no sense if these couples fail to realize the absolute indissolubility of marriage which they are going to contract. Baptized couples come to church not only to celebrate another festival following a special rite but to contract life-enduring marriage, that is celebrate the sacrament of the New Covenant through which they take part in the mysterious bond between Jesus Christ and the Church and convey an indissoluble and intimate bond of their own.
