Summary/Abstract: An important cause for the obscure passages in the production of biblical texts is punctuation. The article is structured into two main sections. The theoretical framework that we have incorporated in the paper is a diachronic overview over the evolution of the punctuation system. The second part is a comparative study on punctuation made on two fundamental Romanian biblical texts: the Bible of Bucharest (1688) and the Bible of Blaj (1795) with a constant reference at the Old Greek source texts: the Septuagint, Frankfurt edition from 1597 and the 1709 Franeker edition. The purpose of the paper is to put emphasis on some of the most important punctuation marks used in biblical translations: brackets, question mark and exclamation mark.
