Summary/Abstract: The general perception on the predicate in grammar goes back, in principle, on a tradition being grounded on Aristotle’s theory regarding the phenomenon of predication. The special situation of the nominal predicate is itself a theme with a long history in the logical and linguistic research. Our study highlights the need for a distinction between the concept of ‘predicate’ from the linguistic level and the same concept from the level of logic. The analysis on the nominal predicate provides the opportunity of drawing a clear cut distinction between the logical hierarchy and the linguistic hierarchy of its constitutive elements.
