Summary/Abstract: The theoretical framework that we envisage for the analysis of youth-directed media texts combines the instruments of ethnography, interactional sociolinguistics and semiotics. The analytic goal would be to show how the niche media acknowledge the existence of a collective young audience by their linguistic encoding of the subcultural tastes. These linguistic features could be morphological, syntactic or/and rhetorical and may be diagnosed for their status as markers of youth talk. In addition, the researcher may also focus on the conversational dimension of the media texts and the interactional strategies engaged by the media in order to establish and maintain communication with their young target public.
