Summary/Abstract: I conceive of nihilism as a self-disintegration of absolute monological reason and self-dissolution of the monistic spirit that informs the ontology of the Modern Age. Nietzsche put a philosophical full stop to this process by reevaluating all values and proclaiming the death of God. But in the aspect of the Übermensch, his nihilism is anti-nihilistic. Yet his anti-nihilism is also nihilistic. These two aspects are intertwined in the two central ideas of Nietzschean philosophy: the „eternal recurrence“ and the „will to power“. In this study, I interpret the Nietzschean concepts ewige Wiederkunft, ewige Wiederkehr and Wille zur Macht. Nietzsche’s extreme, frenzied humanism stands alone as a sacred monument in European fundamental philosophy, but, regrettably, without forming an existentially cozy home for Man.
