Summary/Abstract: The novel Roxana by Gala Galaction, analyzes the ways to accomplish ideas in practice from the perspective of three religious doctrines: Orthodoxy, Evangelism and Mozaism. Young priest Abel Pavel initiates building a church and a shelter for the poor in his humble parish. However, realization of this initiative involves earthly compromises (additionally complicated by eros) which bring him in conflict with himself, especially when three women are involved: Roxana Ceaur – Romanian Orthodox, Debora – Cionistic Jew and Helen Hampel – German Protestant. The interpretation of religious texts, parallels between the Old and the New Testament, the encounter of religion and politics and eros complicates the life of the inexperienced priest who, even though he is a man of God, is not protected from entrapments of life.
