Summary/Abstract: During the Hellenistic period, various kings built numerous new types of warships which offered them new possibilities in combat, but which were also a way to show their greatness in front of their own subjects or of the rival kingdoms. Now there were built warships with four, five, eight, ten or twelve oars, equally efficient and inefficient, as it was proven during naval battles.
