Summary/Abstract: I would like to present some major factors that impact the success and profitability of loyalty programmes. At the end I present three examples for successfully programmes. Loyalty programmes have become extremely popular. Successful loyalty programmes should take the high ground, and offer a differentiated proposition. The most important success factor for a loyalty programme is the reward must connect the consumer to the brand and motivate the consumer to earn the reward in the first place. Loyalty programmes are known for some of their more obvious effects – such as increasing spend, and better retention – but they can also achieve a number of other things that impact the company's business strategy, operational efficiency, human resources policy, and more.
