Summary/Abstract: The Entente States began to implement their occupation plans on the lands of Anatolia when the Greeks occupied İzmir. This was especially a serious threat for the western Anatolia. Upon country’s becoming defenceless, Anatolian people formed irregular forces “Kuva-yi Milliye’’ - which were called National Volunteer Forces – to fight by distracting the enemy until the time the regular army was formed and this saved time for the National War to be organized. Alaşehir , a district of Manisa, was one of the places where the threat of invasion felt. Alaşehir has a unique place in our National war history. The first “Kuva-yi Milliye’’ was established in Alaşehir by Mustafa Bey. The County Governor Bezmi (Nusret) supported the settlement of the National Regiments by supplying weapons and ammunition from the beginning of the struggle. Furthermore, Alaşehir hosted “The Alaşehir Congress’’ which increased the importance of the city. People convened in Alaşehir to determine the line of defence against the Greek in the western Anatolia and to find ways for weapons and ammunition needed. Mustafa Bey continued to contribute to the National War with taking part in the Alaşehir Congress. Mustafa Bey’s struggle of sovereignty on the front with Çerkez Ethem after the Conference is one of the significant issue to be noticed. This article will discuss Mustafa Bey’s contributions and missions that he had undertaken for the sake of Alaşehir’s Liberation during the National War period.
