Summary/Abstract: After nearly 40 years of research on the fortifications system on southeast Dacia’s frontier, we preview part of the research done in collaboration with the Teleorman County Museum to find out how this is valued today in the Romanian speciality literature. The discussion focuses on the two most recent works which ignore the results of archaeological research. Objective research is depreciated to the extend of presenting incorrect survey data in the scientific literature even when informed scientific researchers have access to satellite or aerial photographs to control such errors. Archaeology dated only by interpreting and reinterpreting the ancient writings and the epigraphic material without taking into account the stratigraphy and the archaeological finds, multiplies the number of assumptions without support. The risk is to reproduce this ‘method’ to those people who are seduced by the ‘recognition’ held by those who write more than they read.
