Summary/Abstract: In the chapter we present the results of a national survey research conducted in November 2005 on a representative random sample of 1 027 residents of Poland aged between 15 and 80 years. The aim of this project was to determine the extent to which Poles use the medical Internet and communication technologies in health care, what are their attitudes to e-health and what are their needs regarding e-health. The survey found that 47% of Poles use the Internet, every fifth of them – on the everyday basis, almost 2/3 at home and 40% at school or at work. About 62% of respondents recognise the World Wide Web as a source of information on health, illnesses or health problems, and for 40% of respondents it is an important or very important source of such information. More than 1/3 of Poles use the medical Internet; nearly 50% do it at least once a month. Taking into account this data, it can be concluded that medical informatics and e-health in Poland have a chance of further development.
