New Technologies and new relations in „Digital Nation“ – the support of culture, esteem, dialog and friendship

Summary/Abstract: This article shows the new cultural trend influenced by the Internet which is formation of the new social group. J. Katz calls this group the “Digital Nation“. Its members present themselves as revolutionary whose main ideas are: noncompromise,diversity, liberalism, individualism, tolerance. Pope Benedict XVI in his letter on 43rd Day of Social Communication (24.05.2009) speaks to the “Digital Nation“ about new models of communication between young people today. He confirmes that the new technologies are able to help, specially young generation to develop contacts they are looking for. According to the Pope this is a very positive way to bring young people closer to themselves. But the problem is that when looking for new contacts they abandon their family, friends, all obligations and they become isolated from the community in which they live. The journalists can play a very important educational role in this situation. The condition, however, is them to be masters of the word, creators of reality, interpretators of different situations, egsegets of human condition, teachers of the people, mediators of hope. They are also obliged to live the truth, respect the facts, they have to have the knowledge of reality, to be sensitive and feel free from the pressure of media owners as well as consumers.
