Summary/Abstract: “… what the creative artists of our language want to provide to their audience, who they write for, to what extent they wish for or accept non-Hungarian readers, how much they feel to be representatives of the country, to what extent they think this representation possible in translations…” Endre Karátson’s essay introducing a debate is about the foreign acceptance of Hungarian literature and about the characteristics of Hungarian cultural isolation. In later numbers of Jelenkor several reflections were published in relation with the present text.
