Is Upper Silesia a common name for the silesian voivodeship?

Summary/Abstract: Aim of the article is to show the internal differentiation the Silesian province. The region of Upper Silesia has been analyzed in detailson the background of historical lands located in the limits of the Silesian voivodeship there. Considerations have been based on the notion of regional habitus in the perspective of long duration. As part of the prospects of long duration there are distinguished three planes, which differentiated the analyzed area to the highest extent. To be able to answer the question put at the beginning, geographical-territorial, ethnic and religious planes have been analyzed. The article analyzes the results of empirical studiem on public perception of Upper Silesia and the Silesian province. The author also tries to answer the question, where are the differences between the public perceptron of Upper Silesia.
