Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the written evidence about the scribal activities of Nikola Daskal (teacher) in the 18th c. Samokov and Shiroki Dol. He supports the hypothesis that this teacher copied Paisii of Hilandar’s Slavo-Bulgarian History, that is, that he is the copyist of the so-called Second Samokov Copy (otherwise known as Tsarigrad Copy, or Museum Copy). Further, the author considers the work of Nikola Daskal in the context of what is known about the literacy and literature in 18th c. Samokov region.
