Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses and illustrates some discursive strategies occurring in the titles of economic articles in the press, strategies that have been classsified according to some pragmatic criteria. These strategies are used to capitalise both on the reader’s cognitive and experiential competences, and on the cultural or „encyclopedic” ones, the receptor thus becoming „an accomplice” in the „reading contract”.
