Summary/Abstract: The paper sets out to illustrate the equivalents of two verb tenses (simple past tense and present perfect tense) in translating from Italian into Romanian with regard to their function within specific verbal paradigms. With this end in view, we compare the usage of the tenses in question in a corpus of literary, historical-bibliographic and media texts.
