Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to research and analyse the role and importance of creative workshops in social and intellectual-emotional development, as well as in stimulating perceptive and motoric abilities in children with major developmental difficulties. Apart from associating, play and entertainment, creative workshops organised and conducted in the atmosphere of relaxation offer various possibilities in building selfconfidence, socialisation, and improvement of motoric and communicational abilities in children with major developmental handicaps. By this form of education and character development the child asserts itself in relation to others, develops a sense of environment, comes to know the world, gathers experience, adopts acceptable norms of behaviour and satisfies its needs for cooperation and togetherness. It is an invaluable and immeasurable thing to see the satisfaction, happiness and pride illuminating the faces of such children when we decorate the corridors of our school with their works, or when they show their works, dance movements, learnt poems, etc. to their parents, teachers and other visitors of our workshops.
