Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the existing science policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to point out their inadequacies and the need for change. Worldwide, the knowledge has become the most important resource for the future of every society; investing in knowledge and science grows while the development of science increases very rapidly. In Bosnia and Herzegovina there is no consistent scientific policy, and the allocations of public money for science are below the level of statistical recording. At the same time, European Union has a clear science policy based on increasing public spending on science as well as on increasing the share of private spending. Bosnia and Herzegovina needs a new policy and a new strategy. In its conclusions the paper give a draft of possible interventions.
