Summary/Abstract: In Bulgarian history, Constantinople played an exceptionally important role. Since the Middle Ages, this megalopolis has been one of the centers of the Bulgarian microcosm. It is in this context that the author has surveyed the Bulgarians' ties with the Byzantine capital of the 7th through the mid-15th century. Various aspects of the Bulgarian presence at Constantinople have been studied. The mutual influence, which Bulgarians and Byzantines exerted on each other, has been studied, too: it found reflection in trade, politics and culture.
