Summary/Abstract: Fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Italian verse abounds in historical motifs. Thus, in the latter part of the fifteenth century, motifs borrowed from Balkan political history make their entry into Italian poetry. This process has found reflection in the panegyrical, didactic, courtly and heroic-comic verse of Ubertino Puscolo of Brescia, Gian Mario Ariosto, Zuan Polo de'Liompardi and Antonio da Molin. Through an analysis of the above-mentioned works, Ms. Danova explores the literary mechanisms by means of which historical facts merged with the newly created political myths of the Italian Renaissance.
