Summary/Abstract: In the present article a description and classification of the thematic fields of Brazilian and Polish dialect lexis were introduced as well as history and contemporary characteristics of Polish emigration to Brazil. The lexical material excerpted from recordings and memoirs reflects the mechanisms of emigrants joining the Brazilian multiethnic culture. The results of my research prove that the members of the Polish colony in Brazil use most frequently the Polish colony dialect in the daily situations, talking about work, office, social relations, food and nature. However, it is most rarely used during conversations about art, film and religion. The Polish colony dialect, which was formed in different from Polish climatic and cultural conditions proves that the members of the Polish colony in Brazil created their own identity joining two distant cultures and languages.
