Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to trace the way in which the war-time sources created during 1939–1942 in Janusz Korczak’s Orphanage have survived. It talks mostly about Korczak’s Ghetto Diary written in the ghetto from May to 4 August 1942. It also discusses the issue of the collection of documents revealed in Israel in 1988 which regarded the war-time fate of the Old Doctor, the children from the Orphanage and the Main Shelter Home (the place where Korczak also worked from a short period of time). Basing on the testimony the author of the text suggests a possible version of the events which contributed to the fact that the text left the closed district and survived the war.
