Summary/Abstract: Addition of 17th-century German-Estonian dictionaries to the Tartu University Corpus of Old Literary Estonian http://www.murre.ut.ee/vakkur involves their reversal done in order to highlight the Estonian material. The Corpus includes the German-Estonian dictionary by Heinrich Stahl (1637, reversed 2002), a manuscript of the German-Estonian dictionary by Johannes Gutslaff (1648, reversed 2005), and the German-(Latin)-Estonian dictionary by Heinrich Göseken (1660, reversal under way). Dictionary reversal is not a mere technicality. The article provides examples of some typical researcher difficulties. Part of the problems (effaced parts of text, specifics of the printing technique, language direction) concern the original dictionaries, while some others (stem reconstruction, analysis of nested entries into separate lemmas) are involved with the digitalization process.
