Summary/Abstract: In this paper aimed to emphasize the theoretical and practical relevance of quality analysis of the Romanian democracy from the perspective of dynamics of gender relations, considered to be an important indicator of the degree of modernization and democratization of society. The preponderantly conservatory collective mentality concerning the roles and gender relations, maintained by socialization factors and mechanisms, among which the media occupy an important place, the precariousness of the awareness and information concerning gender issues make difficult the proper understanding of the philosophy of gender equality in various Romanian social environments. In this context, the integration of the gender perspective within the theoretical analysis on democracy and the social development strategies is imperatively necessary for understanding that the gender inequality is a major barrier in the human and social development and the democratization of society, with significant social costs.
