Summary/Abstract: Ever since his death in 1985, Philip Larkin’s lifework has been in the focus of fierce debates. He has been characterized as an anti-modernist (and anti-intellectual) poet, but his texts are also often read in the framework of postmodernism. In my paper I will make an attempt to raise some issues that may clarify Larkin’s place in the history of 20th-century poetry.
