New Lexical Tendencies in the Language of Polish Intellectuals Living in the Vilnius Area

Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to outline new lexical tendencies of the selected social group, which have appeared as a result of social-economic changes after 1991. The language of TV interviews has been analyzed in here. The gathered material proves occurrence of the changes registered also on the area of Poland, namely: lexical internationalization, stylistic quality marking and word formation neologisms. It also shows differences in the development of new lexis: there are innovations in phraseology based on neighboring languages, new borrowings, Lithuanian quotations, dialectal and obsolete words are back in use.
