Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is to determine the main chances and difficulties in the relations of the South Caucasus countries with the European Union.Discussing economic conditions of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, the dominating issues are the questions of the energy sector. Azerbaijan, possessing significant resources of fuel, is on the one hand entirely dependent on the world economic situation of fuel, and on the other hand may be an attractive economic partner for many countries. In turn, Armenia and Georgia, dependent on the fuel supplies from Russia, have strategic locations. The European Union is for these countries a natural partner because of a significant degree of complementarity. Therefore, this article demonstrates the structure of trade turnovers of the countries under scrutiny in order to answer the question on the perspectives of cooperation with the EU.
