Summary/Abstract: The article comments on the beginnings of the Kralice Bible translation, arguing that Červenka’s Psalter of 1562, Blahoslav’s Gospels extracts of 1571, Štefan’s Postil of 1575, and the Kralice psalters of 1579 and 1581 respectively represent imporatnt predecessors to the Kralice Bible. In the article, the contribution of these prints is specified and the thesis is elaborated on that the Unity of Brethren commenced preparations for an Old Testament translation closer to the Hebrew textual tradition than the Vulgate still during Jan Blahoslav’s life.
