Summary/Abstract: This part of the study deals with factors affecting the performance of journalistic profession and examines what affects the activity of media and journalists. Further, we describe the effects which are based on subjective (especially self-perception of journalists), professional, institutional and social spheres in which journalists operate. In addition to the characteristics of individual roles, in which the journalist sees ourselves (an impartial mediator, interpreter, commentator, counselor, educator, entertainer, etc.), we also highlighted the importance of ethical principles in the work of journalists, and also the media. In addition we described the significant impact of the politics, economics and other social factors on journalistic profession.
