Summary/Abstract: The first part of this study deals with the inscription of a Slavonic manuscript containing a Four Gospel (Tetraevanghel), a gift to Bistria monastery from a certain “Dorin pitarul” (bread supplier of the court). The colophon which mentioned the donation is from the year 7000 (= 1492). Recently it was demonstrated that the chronological evidence was uncompleted as long as the last Slavonic sigs were erased. The most probable reconstruction seems to be the year 7065 (=1557), because a certain “Dorin Bocotco” was still alive. The author conjectures that he could be the (great) grandson of the Genoese Dorino Cattaneo, who lived at Stephen the Great’s court. In the second part of the article the author discusses the inscription (18th of May 1569) on a tombstone in the church of Probota monastery, arguing that the tomb belongs to the noble woman Vasilica, daughter of a Pcurar former vornic and not of Ion Stroici. The last section of the present study puts forward a number of new readings of the funerary inscriptions from Probota monastery.
