Summary/Abstract: In this paper we try to underline the importance of central bank independence (CBI) for the economic environment. We analyze the literature regarding the concept and measurement of central bank independence and the implications of this phenomenon in the economy. Also we make some considerations about the limit of actual researches and we propose some changes in the construction of CBI indicators.
