TO THE QUESTION OF TYPOLOGIZATION OF ETHNOGRAPHIC SOURCES

Summary/Abstract: In the article is made an attempt to clarify further the concepts of ethnographic source and source of ethnography. Here is proposed a model typologization as well, based on specific ways by which different sources imbed and reflect the phenomena of ethnocultural processes. It includes following eight types of ethnographic sources: field ethnographic sources, non-verbal folk art, oral folklore, language data, objective sources, objects of fine arts, photo- and cinema documentation, written sources The necessity of differentiation of non-verbal folk art as a self-dependent type is substantiated. More attention is drawn to the narrative written sources, and to the periodicals as well.
