Summary/Abstract: The article analyses Perception and Description of intonation of the Lituanian, Russian, Polish languages. Intonation is a certain element of each language, has different functions and is studied not only in linguistics, but also in other scientific fields (such as Linguistics, psychology, psycholinguistics, rhetorics, etc.). The Perseption of intonation has been changing within time and is in the present still rather differently understood in different languages. Problems in description of intonation are caused by its definition (disagreement in terminology) and further, by more precise definition of its functions and acoustic compounds, by marking its units and the entire intonational system.
