Summary/Abstract: This paper sheds light on the eponym of the village of Kondofrej in the Upper Strymon Valley. It mainly discussed the possibility that the village was named after Manuel Kontofré, commander of the Nicaean fleet. It is also very probable that he was a Nicaean governor, who had his seat there.
