Dual And Triple Synonymous Structures In The Wallachian Chronicles In The 18th Century

Summary/Abstract: The coordination of synonyms could be seen as a common element of European languages, especially Romance languages. The rhetorical method of juxtaposing two or three synonyms was a feature of late Latin and a few writings of the Middle Ages. In the Wallachian and Moldavian chronicles, this phenomenon was frequently used. Our article aims to show that, in the 17th and 18th centuries, the manner of writing described above could be described as a characteristic of the age.
