The Justinian Era In Albania from the Perspective of Data from Archeology

Summary/Abstract: Unlike other periods in history, Lower Antiquity, or the Paleobyzantine period, was a relatively new area for Albanian archaeological excavations and studies in the 1960s. In response to Diocletian's reforms in the Byzantine Empire, the province of southwestern Illyrian, Prevalitania, Ancient Epirus and New Epirus - which included the territory of present-day Albania - had become geographically distant regions of the capital, Constantinople.
