Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the production, economic and financial results of horticultural farms according to their economic size in Poland and in the EU-27 in 2009. Analyses were based on the FADN database. Both in Poland and in the EU-27, the demand for production factors – land, labour, capital, and the relations between them were changing depending on the economic size of a horticultural farm. In 2009 the average value of total output of Polish horticultural farms was approximately 2.5 times lower than in the EU-27, and the average value of income of Polish family farms was lower by about 40% than that recorded in the EU-27. Economically bigger farms in Poland and in the EU-27 were characterised by a lower over-liquidity, stronger tendency to incur debts and greater efficiency of operation. Moreover, the majority of calculated indicators was more favourable for horticultural farms than for agricultural farms overall.
