Summary/Abstract: Human beings are real entities and as such, they cannot avoid temporal diversity within culture. Thus, it seems that the analysis of a subject as diverse as the temporally varied culture, as well as the identification of types and forms of culture temporalization are of fundamental importance. ‘Long-lasting’ or being ‘ephemeral’, ‘modern’ or otherwise, as well as other expressions denoting the types of culture temporalization – these categories communicate both the model of being of individuals and communities, as well as various forms of temporalizing such being. ‘The culture of self-consciousness’, which is a particularly time-sensitive ‘area’ of formation of such awareness, in its modern form poses a challenge for the cohesion of human being within the world. Education, as a set of intellectual means of managing such variety, is questioned by the modernity itself. Being oneself in modernity is rendered problematic and so is the knowledge of oneself, which occurs in a manner previously unknown. Perhaps, therefore, we are living in the age of paradox, as by making ourselves the subject of knowledge, it progressively limits our access to knowledge about ourselves.
