Summary/Abstract: In seven volumes (1876-1901) John Watson McCrindle collected and translated the most important of the classical accounts of India. But a great number of scattered notices were left out from his books. In this article, the passages related to India in the works of Lucianus of Samosata (2nd century A.D.) are presented and analysed. They offer an interesting picture of what was known of India to an educated Greek without any particular interest in the subject.
