Inscriptions in the Manuscript Dictionary Clavis Germanico-Lithvana

Summary/Abstract: The present article focuses on inscriptions, the latest text layer of Clavis Germanico-Lithvana (C), a manuscript German-Lithuanian dictionary from Lithuania Minor dating back not previous to the year 1680. As various additions made by users or/and owners of the manuscript, inscriptions are analysed on the following aspects: their distribution, contents, frequency, and lexicographical sources. According to handwriting, inscriptions fall into several groups indicating that they could be ascribed at least to four persons. Groups of inscriptions differ in number of insertions as well as in their contents. The most copious group of them includes entries, entry words, their equivalents, references, notes, etc. The concordance to the Luther Bible prepared by Conrad Agricola and amended by Friedrich Lankisch (most likely the edition of 1696) served as the main source for entry words with biblical references. Identification of authorship of the inscriptions and their chronology was impossible due to the lack of data.
