Summary/Abstract: Starting with January 2007 Romania will be a part of a complex and evolving structure, the European Union. Full membership of the EU entails new opportunities for economic development and social welfare. Economic benefits and regional development continue to be in our reach provided that Romania proves to have created the necessary institutional infrastructure and a competitive business environment for taking advantage of the integration spill-over effects.
