Summary/Abstract: Being one of the best preserved multi-layered prehistoric settlements, the site Židovar, South Banat district, Serbia, became essential for establishing stratigraphic picture of the later prehistory at the southern border of the Pannonian Plain. Its exceptional location as a natural fortress on the eastern edge of the Deliblatska peščara, a large sandy desert, and at the same time in the vicinity of the Vršac highlands, has been attracting explorers since the 18th century AD.
