Summary/Abstract: Between October 2nd and 3rd 2007 and the 28th of May and the 3rd of June, at the request of the Department for Culture, Cults and National Cultural Heritage of Buzau county, two preventive archeological interventions were made, in Sarata Monteoru Area, commune Merei, Buzau county, in order to discharge the archeological material of two areas that were to be made two buildings for private property. The whole archeological ensemble Sărata Monteoru consist of items of archeological interest from Cetăţuia, Col, Poiana Scoruşului, Dealul Leagănului, Dealul Călugărului, Huioaba, Sărata Monteoru village to which we can add Drumul Cetăţii. Here have been identified and studied artifacts from Neolithic period until the Roman period. Preventive archaeological interventions took place in points like Drumul Cetăţii – the property of Zecheru family and Drumul Cetăţii – the property of Druţu-Danciu family. On this occasion were discovered vestiges of the Neolithic period (Cucuteni B culture), Bronze Age (Monteoru culture) and subsequent vestiges of habitation, due to the fragmentation of archaeological material it was too difficult to attribute it to a specific era. In the case of the Drumul Cetăţii – owner of the property Zecheru family, located approximately 250 m from the northern boundary of the site Cetăţuia, pottery fragments were discovered in a secondary position, being drained either from the hill slope or from the earth excavated from previous excavations. In the case of point Drumul Cetăţii – property owned by Druţu – Danciu family, located approximately 600 m away from the Cetăţuia site, were found pottery fragments belonging to Bronze Age and a rest from a fuel structure, all located in a secondary position. Archaeological material, with strong traces of the running, is found in a level of gravel and sand, coming from an old stream/runway. Most likely, in this case, the archaeological material and the fuel passage structure were driven from the hill slopes Călugărului and Cetăţuii by the old flood waters, now abandoned.
